A Small Business Gift Guide

“If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”
William Morris

If you’re looking to shop small this holiday season I’ve compiled a selection of some of my favourite finds that are both practical and beautiful.
(ps. disclaimer, this post contains affiliate links! Don’t worry though, this doesn’t cost you anything, but if you do purchase any of my suggestions I will get a small commission eee)

The Lavender Room, Brighton

Whilst I’ve never had the opportunity to visit The Lavender Room in person, I first stumbled across their trouva shop when I embarked on a mission to find somewhere that stocked Outremer’s Vanilla Eau De Toilette Perfume in the UK. If the name sounds familiar to you, that’s probably because their distinctive art nouveau perfume bottle was the inspiration behind my “Parisian Perfume” illustration ( pictured below).

Priced at just £13.25 a bottle this perfume would make the most adorable gift for any loved one without breaking the bank- not just because of its heavenly scent (I’m usually not a fan of vanilla scented perfumes as I find them a bit sickly, but this scent has wonderful spicy undertones that make me feel like I’m in a bakery), but the bottle would make a darling decorative piece once it’s been used up! The Lavender Room also stock an array of other delicate scents by Outremer such as Rose and Tea, all sporting that oh so darling perfume bottle.

Decorvm, etsy

I first stumbled across Cassa and Fa’s etsy shop ‘decorvm’ a few years ago and immediately fell in love with their stunning fine art prints and tapestries. Whether you’re looking for a stunning Renaissance painting, a William Morris tapestry, or even your favourite Van Gogh print, decorvm’s products are the perfect addition to any art lover’s home. I’ve been swooning over their wall tapestries for almost as long as I can remember, but they are definitely a statement piece.

The Little Deer interiors

I fist fell in love with The Little Deer a few years ago. I’d been looking for somewhere I could buy some dried flowers for what felt like forever (because as much as I love fresh flowers, it’s a bit of a costly habit), when I stumbled across their beautiful floral selection. Their dried flowers come in an impressive variety and are long-lasting whilst also retaining a surprising amount of colour. Paired with one of The Little Deer’s dreamy ceramic vases this would make the most adorable gift for a loved one, with the added bonus that they will last forever unlike a fresh bouquet!

Willow & Moon Home, etsy

If you’re looking for a handmade gift for a love one with a pop of colour, I’m in love with Willow & Moon Home’s velvet cushions on etsy! I’m currently trying to resist the temptation not to spend a small fortune on these adorable cushions, but aren’t they just lovely?

Old Brewhouse Pottery, etsy

As you probably know, I love all things bees. And I also love coffee. So when I found Old Brewhouse Pottery on etsy and realised that they make reusable ceramic BEE takeaway coffee cups, I knew I had to share! So this isn’t just a wonderfully unique work of art, but it’s also good for the planet (boo to paper takeaway cups), and also supports a small artist. Hurry though, because there’s only one of these left!

Flower Love Studios, etsy

If you love art prints (especially the likes of Matisse) in neutral colours, you’ll love Flower Love Studios as much as I do. Having recently moved house, I’ve been eyeing up these lovely prints for some time now. The shop boasts a huge collection of prints that are wonderfully curated and will no doubt be a feature for any room.

etredanslalune, (me)

So, of course (and please excuse the shameless self promotion), if you wanted to support my small shop this holiday season that would mean the absolute world to me! I started off by upcycling old clothes that would have ended up in a landfill by embroidering my art onto them, but have recently started making polymer clay earrings (and haven’t been able to stop since eek!). My most recent additions include my hand painted butterfly earrings that now come in two sizes- a small single winged flutterbaby or a large pair that come with two painted wings on each hoop!

In addition to my physical products, I’ve been working on a selection of printables, namely sweet gifting envelopes for this festive period (though they can be used all year around for pen pal letters or even keeping ephemera in!).

The template for these is available to download for free on my shop, though if you’d like to support my work (and have the means to!!) I’m open to small donations (suggestion of £1-3). Happy (responsible) shopping!
